Become a Scholarship Donor – Support or Establish a Scholarship
The greatest gift is the gift of opportunity. For many people, the prospect of attending college depends on the availability of financial assistance like scholarships. Most of the students at Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College continue to live and work locally after college. A college education gives community members the opportunity to prosper, and as a result our community thrives.
Scholarships are awarded annually to students at the District’s three colleges. Awards are based on a wide range of criteria. Recipients may be entering from high school, continuing their studies at one of the colleges or transferring to a four-year institution. Awards range from $200 – $2000, sometimes higher. Scholarship Committees at each of the colleges review the scholarship applications and select the award recipients based on the established criteria. Each college holds an annual event in May to recognize scholarship recipients. Payments are made to recipients upon verification of enrollment at one of the District colleges or at a transfer institution.

Support through Endowed Gifts
You can support the Foundation’s scholarships or college programs by establishing an endowed fund. An endowed fund creates a perpetual source of income awarded for generations through funds managed by the Foundation. The minimum to establish an endowed fund is $20,000. You may use cash, stocks, bonds or real property to make your gift. Your gift to establish an endowed fund is permanently invested in the Foundation’s portfolio. The Foundation’s Investment Advisory Committee and paid portfolio managers manage the endowment investments. The principal of the fund is invested to produce income and an award is expended annually based on the net interest income earned and additional earnings are returned to the principal for fund growth. You may make additional gifts to your endowed fund at any time. Endowed scholarships are a great way to make a lasting impact.
