Why You Need an Estate Plan

Estate planning is important for everyone. An estate plan puts you in control of what medical treatments you may receive, who will take care of your children, and who receives your belongings in the event of your death or disability. Without an estate plan, a court makes these decisions for you.

A plan also makes things easier on your family. They will be able to find all of your important documents, records, etc. because you will have left them a list of locations. They will know about what you “would have wanted” or “meant” because you will have left clear instructions. Their grief will not be compounded by uncertainty, stress, and worry.

The Foundation staff is pleased to answer your questions about how to start writing or revising your estate plan, make a planned gift to the Foundation, or establish a gift that pays you. We want to make sure your questions are answered and your goals met.
